Massive indoor track at INSEP

Had a great sleep and actually don’t have any jetlag. Got up at 7am and had a standard INSEP breakfast and grabbed a few extras for the day in Paris. After breaky checked out the facilities and the indoor track was something to behold. A 3 lane 400m Rekortan track with (wait for it) a six-lane banked 200m and a velodrome inside it. Very impressive.

Whilst they need the indoor facilities for the cold here it could also make (financial?) sense to reduce the wear and tear from the sun for this to be done in Australia. Anyway, wishful thinking really. I’ll just have to come to Europe for the privilege of seeing tracks like this.

Velib – the see Paris by bike project – is an amazing idea. Pay 1 euro for the hire of a bike (150 euro deposit required) and have the bike parked at another Velib station in 15 minutes and it’s free. It’s the best way to see Paris (even better than the Sunwang tour of Beijing last year with Brandon and Matty.
