Huge thunderstorm today and I saved a Ukraine coach!

Just as I was about to head back out to the track for the afternoon session a huge thunderstorm came through and nearly wiped out the whole Games village.

It came through so fast and everyone just ran inside and this Ukraine coach decided to brave the elements with a flimsy umbrella.

I could see the fence was about to topple over so I went and grabbed him just before about 50m of fence came crashing down.

So there was about an hours delay to competition. Dani Samuels had a big win in the discus which was the highlight. Mel did not really fire in the 100m. She was pretty upset after the race where she came 8th in 11.72s. Still she is only 19 and it was her first major final so she will reflect on that later I am sure and realise it`s a good result for someone so young.

Its late now and my meet report is done and Im hoping the reported next to me is not reading this as I am just about to ask him for a lift home.
