Ciao Varese… short but fun

The visit to Varese was very short but it was fun seeing how the AIS European Training Centre was going.

I arrived late eary on Wednesday evening and went straight out to dinner with Cathy (Catherina is her Italian name!). We had this great risotto at the restaurant that they have set up for the athletes to use. (this one just on Wednesdays).

Today I did some work for the girls and caught up with Deb … Catherina and Della are a great team. It really feels like a mini-AIS over here and the facility is being heavily used. Many teams have just left including a few of the Australian swim team members on their way to Rome.

This morning I road to the Canoe training facility and then cleaned the iCool ice baths for the girls. Catherina and I had some great Italian pizza for lunch.

I had a chance to Skype with Paul while Cathy was around but the connection was not the greatest.

Warwick and I discussed some things about how to improve the efficiency of how they are sharing and capturing their information. Hopefully we can offer something. They are doing a workshops soon. I think in the short term some web forms which improve their workflow will be useful.

Tonight the guys went to see a famous Italian singer Tiziano Ferro and I went with them to have dinner before hand. Had lots of fun but it all went too quick. I was keen to check out the track and lake Varese some more but 36 hours is not really enough.

So onto Paris now where I will catch up with Richie and watch Bolt run. That should be cool. WR maybe?
